Ina, Ill. – Becker/SMC the leading manufacturer in Underground Power Distribution equipment will manufacture a 750kVA Power Center for the Mining Technology Program at Rend Lake College (RLC). Prior to 1985, RLC produced qualified workers through classes held seven days a week until the coal industry began to slow down. RLC will begin training skilled miners once again with the rise of the market, Government and State funding, and a projection of 50,000 miners needed over the next 5-10 years. RLC has setup a simulated mine with machinery required to train each student. Greg Sanders, Chief Sales Officer for Becker/SMC, states, "We are excited about being part of the instructional program at Rend Lake.  Students receiving training on the Becker/SMC equipment will be exposed to the industry standard and will receive the skills necessary to be successful in our industry."
