N-Type to N-Type Antenna Splitter

The Becker Electronics PANS N-type to N-type Passive Antenna Splitter is typically employed within Becker Leaky Feeder Systems. These systems are installed to facilitate the reception and transmission of radio communications signals throughout Mining, Tunneling, Motorway and In-Building application scenarios.

By augmenting a main leaky feeder line with the Becker Electronics UAAC Active Antenna Coupler, another entry’s communication can be covered with the use of PANS units. Please refer to the UAAC datasheet’s section “Comparison between Leaky Feeder Setups”. This has obvious cost advantages to the customer as the restored signal can be directed into other areas of the underground / in-building scenario without the additional expense of power supplies and bi-directional amplifiers. The PANS is more used in setups where it connects antennas to a UAAC unit connected in the Main Line leaky feeder cable.

The micro-strip technique also ensures that there is a continuous and uninterrupted solid copper connection from main line input to main line output. The MTBF reliability of an existing leaky feeder system is thereby not affected by the introduction of the PANS, since the solid RF and DC copper connection within the PANS has a negligible effect on the MTBF calculations.

The ports used to connect to the UAAC units and antennas (or any peripheral) are the industry standard N-Type Female connectors. The entire device is housed in an IP66 rated enclosure ensuring that it is environmentally suitable for underground installation.
