By augmenting a main leaky feeder line with the Becker Electronics UAAC Active Antenna Coupler, the NTBC converts the N-type connection between the UAAC and a leaky feeder cable via a Brass Block Connection. Please refer to the UAAC datasheet’s section “Comparison between Leaky Feeder Setups”. This has obvious cost advantages to the customer as the restored signal can be directed into other areas of the underground / in-building scenario without the additional expense of power supplies and bi-directional amplifiers.
The microstrip technique also ensures that there is a continuous and uninterrupted solid copper connection from main line input to main line output. The MTBF reliability of an existing leaky feeder system is thereby not effected by the introduction of the BANS, since the solid RF and DC copper connection within the NTBC has a negligible effect on the MTBF calculations.
The Radiating Cable ports connect via Becker standard brass-block connectors. The Antenna Port connects to the unit via the industry standard N-Type Female connectors to connect to UAAC units.
The entire device is housed in an IP66 rated enclosure ensuring that it is environmentally suitable for underground installation.
